Three Faculty members of DTU have Promoted

In its regular meeting held on December 19, 2018 the Senate of DTU approved the promotion of three faculty members of the university. One Faculty member of the university Dr. Menberu Teshome has promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor and the other two Faculty members of the university, Mr. Mekonnen Assefa and Mr. Habtamu Demelash Promoted from Lecturer to Assistant Professor.
Before its approval by the senate, it followed rigorous steps and recommendations to approve these promotions which pass through channels of the evaluations of the respective Department Council, Respective Academic Commission, central ad-hoc committee and Promotion Standing Committee of the university. The Faculty members who got these promotions have high academic caliber with effective teaching experience, conducting research and published articles in peer reviewed reputable journals as well as render community services.

The First Faculty Member, who promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor, is Dr. Menberu Teshome. He is currently working as Vice President for Research and Community Service of the university since June, 2016 and has published a total of Seventeen articles (solo and co-authored) in peer reviewed reputable journals and one teaching material (solo authored) since he became Assistant Professor. He was also worked as Faculty member, Vice Dean and Dean of College of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Gondar.0R5A1913 Apart from administrative and research activities, Dr. Menberu engaged in teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, in different academic and administrative committees of the university and community services demanded by the university .Besides, Dr. Menberu had active involvement in income generation, project implementation and conference organization. He participated in professional memberships as well as in review of articles and proposals, institutional publications editorial work of national and international peer reviewed journals.

The second Faculty Member who has got promotion is Mr. Mekonnen Assefa, who promoted from Lecturer to Assistant Professor. Mr. Mekonnen had been worked as Director for Community Service and Industry Linkage Directorate of the university. He has published a total of 7 articles since he became a Lecturer. He also worked as a Lecturer in Arbamich University. Apart from administrative and research activities Mr. Mekonnnen 0R5A8479engaged in teaching in undergraduate programs at the Unit of Public Health, in different academic and administrative committees of the university and community services demanded by the university. He has got best 2017/2018 academic year researcher award of the university. Moreover, Mr. Mekonnen also had active involvement in income generation, project implementation and conference organization. He participated in professional memberships as well as in review of articles and proposals, institutional publications editorial work of national and international peer reviewed journals.

The third Faculty Member who has got promotion is Mr. Habtamu Demelash, who promoted from Lecturer to Assistant Professor. He has published a total of 8 articles since he became a Lecturer. Habtamu Mr. Habtamu also worked as a Lecturer in Maada Walabu University from September, 2011 to August, 2015. Mr. Habtamu also engaged in teaching in undergraduate programs at the Unit of Public Health, in different academic and administrative committees of the university and community services demanded by the university. Moreover, Mr. Habtamu also had active involvement in income generation, project implementation and conference organization. He participated in professional memberships as well as in review of articles and proposals.
The Public and Foreign Relation Directorate of the University use this opportunity to forward “Congratulation” message for the promoted faculty members and notify to the university community that this promotion is an inaugural/special event of the university in this regard since its establishment.
